Alsatian Golf Club - approximately 1.5 miles from Hotel Alsace

The newly redesigned golf course features Hole 2 surrounded by waterways and bunkers. Throughout the course you will find challenging and beautiful fairways lined with trees and Spanish Dagger. The course also offers distance wedge game range, practice bunkers, three-level putting green, and a pre-round putting green.

Quihi Gun Club - approximately 8.5 miles from Hotel Alsace

Two German men met under an oak tree on Quihi Creek on May 26, 1890 to organize the Quihi Schuetzen (shooting) Verein (club).  Now called the Quihi Gun Club, it is one of the oldest social clubs in the country with over 600 members.  Having been built on the Quihi Creek, the club's building had been washed away 3 times before the building that stands today was built.

Dances are still held every 2nd and 4th Saturday of the month!  Visitors from all over the world enjoy dancing on one of the best wooden dance floors ever.

South Texas Maize - approximately 12.5 miles west of Hotel Alsace on Highway 90

A 7-acre labyrinth of twists, turns, and dead ends carved into stalks over your head, offers an experience that is perfect for those hungry for fun. Most participants, adults and children alike, spend an average of 1 hour trying to maneuver their way out of the mind-boggling puzzle. The carnival-like setting outside of the maize provides tons of activities for family fun. The maize opens in late September/early October and closes at the end of November.

Paradise Canyon - approximately 14 miles from Hotel Alsace

One of the many hidden treasures of Medina County. Located near Medina Lake and Diversion Dam on the Medina River, Paradise Canyon is an outdoor paradise. Swim, picnic, hike and camp this great park isolated in nature.

Sea World of Texas - approximately 20 miles from Hotel Alsace

SeaWorld San Antonio, the world's largest marine life adventure park and family entertainment showplace, presents a splashy lineup of more than 26 sensational shows, thrilling rides, animal attractions and educational experiences for all ages. It's actually four parks in one on 250 acres: a show park, a rides and slides park, a water park and an amazing animals park.

Six Flags Fiesta Texas - approximately 32 miles from Hotel Alsace

Six Flags Fiesta Texas is a seasonally operated theme park located on approximately 200 acres near the northwest intersection of Loop 1604 and Interstate 10 in San Antonio, Texas. Enjoy the best in thrilling rides, exciting live entertainment and a free waterpark all at Six Flags Fiesta Texas.

Fiorella Fridays - Enjoy this great Castroville event on the first Friday of every month (March-December) from 6-9pm. Featuring local artisans' craft work, shopping, live music, wine tastings, food and much more in Castroville's historic district - Fiorella Street & Houston Square - this is a great way to spend a Friday evening.

Friday Night Fever - An evening of classic cars, trucks, bikes, food, music and shopping on the second Friday of every month, 6-10pm at Lundquist Automotive off Hwy 90 just East of Castroville.

Market Trail Days - Check out local craftsmen and their wares at the Market Trail Days held the second Saturday of each month March-December 9am-4pm. Vendors from the area set up in beautiful Houston Square across from St. Louis Catholic Church. Booths feature anything from arts and crafts, wood-working, plants, clothes and plenty of food and drinks.

Historic Walking Tour - One of the most popular things to see and do in Castroville is to take the Historic Walking Tour which features over 50 homes and commercial structures originally built in the mid to late 1800s. You will notice that the buildings on the Walking Tour are identified with a distinctive marker - a silhouette of a typical house bearing the name and the date of construction. You will also find them elsewhere, as the Chamber of Commerce has presented them to all homeowners who have researched the records to verify the necessary information. Look for them as you move about the city and surrounding countryside. History is everywhere!

Regional Park - Less than a mile from Hotel Alsace in Castroville

Castroville's Regional Park, located in the southwest part of Castroville, consists of 126 wooded acres on the Medina River. This is a wonderful park with many great children play areas. No fee is required for recreational use.
